Wesleyan church, a magnificent converted church with a carefully considered and well-curated plan that highlights the exceptional unobstructed views of the surrounding Yorkshire Dales, was constructed in 1884 with many Gothic Revival architectural elements. The recent renovation has made sure that many of these traditional features now merge perfectly with all the modern comforts you would expect in a truly lovely rural hideaway, thanks to the property’s ideal location on the Bolton Abbey Estate.

The spacious open-plan living space with classic vaulted ceilings that evoke an atmosphere of old-world charm and warmth is accessible from the lovely white wooden entrance. Separating the cosy living area from the contemporary fully equipped kitchen and dining area with a big island and antique church pews, the room’s focal point is the dual aspect wood burning fireplace and open chimney breast.

Wesleyan Chapel has four spacious bedrooms (two double four poster beds and a super-king that may be made into twin beds upon request) that can accommodate up to eight people. The bedrooms are located down a stone staircase on the lower floor. Every bedroom is furnished with heritage colours and classic designs, and each has its own bathroom. All the bathrooms have cosy underfloor heating.

The patio outside has a seating area that is thoughtfully designed to optimise the enjoyment of the peace and quiet as well as the breathtaking views of Barden Bridge and the Wharfe Valley.

Enjoy a hot tub on the outdoor patio while taking in the pristine views of the Yorkshire Dales and beyond. For the most unforgettable outdoor dining experience, there is also a large seating area and a barbecue. Please be aware that in order to perform necessary water testing, the Bolton Abbey Estates team needs daily access to the hot tub. Every Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., the hot tub will be drained, cleaned, and refilled. There is no need to enter the cottage.

This historic Grade 1 listed structure, which is only 700 years old, has lately undergone exquisite restoration to create an incredibly comfortable space. There are many options for dining and drinking, including two of our favourite places for a flat white: KJ’s Bothy Bakery, which is just outside of town, and Fiona’s Wholefoods, which is only a five-minute stroll from the lodge. Grantown boasts numerous independent stores offering a wide range of merchandise, from art to apples, making a journey down the High Street a delightful experience. There are pathways for bicyclists and walkers everywhere, and the River Spey is only a short distance away.

Ski chalet decor is a major influence on the tastefully illuminated wood-everywhere interior of Snowy River Lodge. Large groups can enjoy mealtimes and aperitif hour in the well-equipped kitchen (complete with two wine fridges) and the spacious living and dining area with an open concept design. At the far end is a lounge area with sofas arranged around a 52-inch TV and a woodburning stove. A patio door leads to a south-facing bench for visits in fair weather, and another door opens to the deck, which has a solid wood dining table and a number of casual seating options.
Although Snowy River Lodge’s grounds are unique, you won’t regret exploring outside the garden’s bounds. Carrbridge is encircled by meandering walkways, red squirrels, and deer-filled woodlands. Holidaymakers with four legs will really enjoy their stay here. Along with additional dining and drinking options, the village features a fantastic local pub, a Spar store, a play area, bike jumps, and the much-loved Landmark Adventure Park.

First, there’s the entry, where you drive beneath a former railway bridge to reach a private haven decked out in fairy lights. If you stay outside, you will soon see the hot tub and barrel sauna close to the outdoor seating area. The fisherman’s hut, with its own wood-burning fire and riverside porch, can then be found by following the ancient mill course down through the garden to the River Spey. Ideal for an evening drink spot, a quiet reading nook, or a teen hangout.
There’s much to keep you busy here for a weekend, including the sauna, hot tub, river, garden, collection of board games, and the desire to just take in the space that Old Mill on the Spey seems to generate in everyone who stays. You’re in an excellent place to start your experiences if you decide to explore or if you have the good fortune to be staying longer. In less than ten minutes, Boat of Garten, a charming community with a fantastic shop, cafe, gallery, tavern, network of walkways, and bike pump track and it’s less than a 10-minute drive to everything Aviemore has to offer.

If, during your time at Highland Lodge Estate, you never leave the spa and wellness suite, we’ll forgive you. Inside is a sizable sauna with a glass front and a rain shower that looks out over a chill-out area with slate floors, underfloor heating, and a wood-burning stove. A deep spa bath with water jets and head pillows for complete shut-off is located in the corner. The large sliding door then leads to the deck area outside. Here, the emphasis is still on unwinding. Enjoy a meal at the dining table, unwind in the hot tub, socialize around the fire pit, or get a drink from the outside bar. There wouldn’t be a reason to leave the property if you weren’t in such a desirable area, near Aviemore and all that the Cairngorms National Park has to offer.

The 18th-century croft home and nearby steading at Crofts of Cairngorm make this a unique holiday spot. They are the perfect combination for a large gathering. The traditional stone cottage has three bedrooms as well as the living, dining, and kitchen areas. The stone steading can sleep nine guests at a time thanks to its two additional bedrooms and bathrooms.
All things considered, Crofts of Cairngorm provides a tranquil haven from the hectic lives we lead, and its position puts you in the center of everything that the Cairngorms National Park has to offer. Nethy Bridge features a great playpark beside a wide playing field, a hotel with a public bar, an excellent cafe and butcher/deli, and numerous possibilities for woodland walks. You can reach Aviemore, Grantown-on-Spey, and the charming nearby villages of Carrbridge and Boat of Garten with a 15-minute drive.
